Apple is providing OEM parts to independent repair shops (sort of)

Click here Apple is finally offering OEM parts to independent repair shops (kind of) On Thursday, Apple announced that they're launching the Independent Repair Provider program, which will provide genuine parts, diagnostic tools, and repair manuals to independent repair shops. Woah—so like Right to Repair? Kinda sorta, but not really: The program only covers common iPhone repairs, confirming plans laid out in Apple documents leaked by Motherbord in March. The parts Apple provides to independent shops may cost as much as—or more than—they do at the Apple Store. The program doesn't apply to average consumers, and Apple still sets the agenda by reserving the right to reject any shop from the program.  So what does this mean? Is Apple's Independent Repair Provider program a step forward, or are they simply co-opting Right to Repair?
