Learning Network: Election 2020: 11 Ways to Engage Students From Now Until November

We want to hear from students and teachers.

Dear Reader,

The 2020 election is just a few months away.

Students, what issues this election season are most important to you? Teachers, how do you plan on teaching the presidential race this year? We want to hear your thoughts and ideas, and we plan on using them for The Learning Network in the next few months.

This summer we will begin publishing a suite of options for teaching and learning about civics and our democracy, including student challenges and activities, professional development webinars and lesson plans. This week we published our latest resource, “Election 2020: 11 Ways to Engage Students From Now Until November,” to help teachers and students get started with ideas like predicting the unpredictable, adopting an issue and virtual volunteering.

The coronavirus pandemic has thrown into question how the candidates will campaign, whether there will be live conventions and how we’ll vote in November. We’re creating a library full of election-related resources to help students and teachers explore these issues and more, because participating in our democracy and engaging in civics matters.

Sincerely,

Michael Gonchar, editor
