Learning Network: 60 Talented Educators Join The New York Times Teaching Project

View in browser|nytimes.com Continue reading the main story August 14, 2020 Dear Reader, In July, we officially welcomed a distinguished group of 60 educators to The New York Times Teaching Project. Chosen from hundreds of applicants and representing 29 states, these teachers are passionate about bringing the mission of The Times — helping people understand the world through on-the-ground, expert and deeply reported independent journalism — to their school communities. When it became clear that our original plans to meet in person at The Times’s headquarters in Manhattan had to become, instead, a three-day virtual institute, we realized that though the format would change, our goals would not. Across several time zones, we connected all 60 educators to The Times, to our staff and to one another; invited them to share their own experiences and expertise; and helped them begin to develop curriculum projects that will be meaningful to their communities this school year.
