Learning Network: 80 Tips for Remote Learning From Seasoned Educators

Activities to Build Community

Dear Reader,

When schools transitioned to remote learning in the spring, teachers worked quickly to adapt lesson plans and curriculums for virtual classes, while also trying to maintain community and connection. This fall, not only will many educators continue that same work, but they will also have the added challenge of building community with students they’ve never met.

To support teachers with this challenge, and with many others, we published three new resources:

Together these resources offer strategies for building community and establishing routines; they suggest different technology tools; and they provide practical online resources along with tips for using them with synchronous and asynchronous instruction.

In our experience as former teachers ourselves, being part of a wide network of thoughtful, dedicated educators has always been key to making our work more powerful and rewarding. This year, it feels especially essential. We’re going to continue to do our best at the Learning Network to help teachers and students in whatever ways we can, and as always, we welcome your feedback about what resources you think would be most helpful.

Sincerely,

Michael Gonchar, editor
