Learning Network: Teach Writing With The New York Times

Our 2020-21 Curriculum, Webinars and P.L.C.

Dear Reader,

Last summer we published a yearlong writing curriculum based on our writing prompts, mentor texts, contests and lesson plans. We were excited, teachers were excited, and so, for this school year, we’re back with more.

Not only did we just release our revised writing curriculum for 2020-21 with units on teaching narratives, argument essays, podcast scripts and more, but we’re also hosting a series of webinars aligned with each of our seven writing units. Plus, we’re creating a professional learning community (P.L.C.) where educators can share resources, strategies and inspiration about teaching writing with The New York Times.

One of the things we’re most excited about our expanded offerings this year is that we’ll have even more ways to listen to you. Some of our best ideas and resources have started in classrooms and come to us as suggestions, and we love to hear how our resources work in the wild.

Please take some time to explore our curriculum, sign up for our webinars and join our P.L.C. — and if you’re so inspired, let us know what you think.

Best,

Michael Gonchar, editor
