Every month, the Sports Trends Fanalyst on the Trends Data Team curates and highlights some of the biggest search trends in the sports world.

The year began with the NFL playoffs barreling towards a Super Bowl rematch, the NBA crossing the midway point of the season, and major moves in the women's sports world.

was the top trending sporting event in the US and Worldwide

In the US, 11 states were searching for australian open women's final more than the australian open men's final. Madison Keys was the top trending Australian athlete overall, while Learner Tien was the top trending athlete on the men's side.

wnba free agency

spiked +1,100% in the US

satou sabally news was the top trending news searched with WNBA free agency. People wanted to understand how free agency worked, with wnba free agency rules becoming a breakout search in the US. The Indiana Fever was the top team that people were searching for related to WNBA free agency.

College Football Playoff National Championship

was searched more than ever before in the US

The Ohio State Buckeyes won the College Football Playoff National Championship, defeating the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Will Howard was the top trending player related to the game. People wanted to know more about the team, with searches asking what is on ohio state helmets and how many nattys does ohio state have becoming breakout searches, and who beat ohio state this year spiking +600%.
